Vermont School to Host Event to Seek Flood Designs
Vermont’s Norwich University is going to be hosting a two-day event to seek ways to make buildings more flood resistant.
Norwich University’s School of Architecture and Art will be hosting the event on Thursday and Friday.
Speakers will discuss designing buildings for flood resiliency, and a team of architects, planners, preservationists, ecological managers and others will join Norwich students in seeking best practices for designing and building flood-resilient structures.
Participants, including Norwich University students, also will work together to develop design and construction solutions for flood-prone areas.
Norwich Professional School Dean Aron Temkin says many were shocked by flooding from Tropical Storm Irene and Hurricane Sandy.
The event is so students and professionals can work together to come up with solutions.
