New York Men Charged With Stealing Railroad Track
Two New York men face grand larceny charges after the Chenango County Sheriff’s office accused them of stealing 50 feet of railroad track and selling it as scrap metal.
The sheriff’s office tells local media outlets that 22-year-old Cody Gay and 22-year-old Paul Presnell, both of North Norwich, were also charged with criminal mischief and trespass. They were arrested Nov. 5 and 6.
Deputies say the men used torches to cut about 50 feet of track from an unused section of railway in August, and sold it as scrap for more than $1,000.
They were released on appearance tickets for a later court date.
