New Jersey’s Fire Sprinkler Measure Won’t Be Approved
Fire sprinklers will not be required in new homes in New Jersey.
Gov. Chris Christie on Tuesday allowed a bill that made the rule to die.
The measure would have applied to newly constructed homes. It would not have applied to mobile homes or homes not connected to a public water system.
Supporters said it would save lives.
Opponents said the requirement would drive up costs and make it more difficult for residents to build homes.
