Jitney Bus Owner, Driver Sued by Parents of New Jersey Baby Killed

March 7, 2014

The parents of an infant girl who was killed when a New Jersey jitney bus sent a light pole crashing onto her stroller have filed a lawsuit.

Maylin Hago and Jairo Paredes of North Bergen filed suit in Hudson County against the driver, Idowu Daramola, and the company that employed him, Boulevard Lines Inc.

Police say Daramola was speeding and using his cell phone when he veered off a street in West New York and struck a light pole which fell onto a stroller, killing 8-month old Angelie Paredes.

Daramola is facing multiple charges, including death by auto.

The attorney representing both the driver and the company tells The Record that it is too early in the case to comment.

A law requiring tougher regulations for jitneys is named for Angelie.
