2 Hurt in New York Ceiling Collapse
Two people have been hurt in a ceiling collapse at a shuttered Nassau County government building that’s under renovation.
A police spokesman, Inspector Kenneth Lack, tells Newsday that the injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Police say 17 other workers escaped injury during the collapse at the former Nassau County Department of Social Services headquarters.
Authorities say an environment cleaning company has been preparing the building for asbestos removal. Lack says the two injured workers were to be decontaminated.
A deli worker across the street, Christopher Higgins, says he heard a crash and saw dust rising.
