MADD Executive to Serve as Rhode Island Highway Safety Chief
The executive director of Mothers Against Drunk Driving in Rhode Island will soon become the state’s new highway safety chief.
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation says Gabrielle Abbate will take over the new duties as the RIDOT’s chief of highway safety on Monday, Nov. 3.
Abbate joined MADD in 1991 and has served as state executive director since 1995.
In her new role, Abbate will lead RIDOT’s Office on Highway Safety, which is responsible for implementing federally funded safety projects and campaigns throughout Rhode Island.
