BMS Names Johnston as Chairman
BMS, the parent company to the North American based reinsurance intermediary, BMS Vision Re, announced that Alexander Johnston will become non-executive chairman of the Group on the Jan. 1, 2007, following the retirement of Graham McKean, one of the original founders.
Until 2003 Johnston was a managing director at Lazard, London. He has been on the board of BMS Associates Ltd since the beginning of 2005. Among his other activities, he is a member of the Competition Commission and an external member of the Finance Committee of Cambridge University.
“Graham has been an integral part of BMS and its success for 26 years” said John Spencer, CEO, BMS. “As the reinsurance and capital markets grow more closely aligned, his experience in the banking sector will prove enormously useful in helping us to meet the changing needs of our clients.”
“I am an outsider to the re/insurance industry, but have spent all my working life in financial services and understand many of the issues that arise in this type of business,” Johnston said. “I look forward to contributing to the next phase of development of the Group.”
