Zurich Makes Group Risk Management Appointments in Europe, U.S.
Zurich Financial Services has announced the following appointments within its Risk Management Group.
Adrian Zweig (50, Swiss citizen), currently Head of Strategic Asset Allocation and Asset and Liability Management (ALM), has been appointed to the newly created position of Head of Risk Analytics in Group Risk Management, effective October 1, 2008. He will be responsible for further strengthening risk control, measurement, monitoring, modeling and strategic risk integration functions.
Zweig will also lead the definition and the implementation of a consistent, value-based risk appetite and risk tolerance framework that reflects Zurich’s strategic goals. He will report to Axel P. Lehmann, Group Chief Risk Officer and will be based in Zurich, Switzerland.
He joined Zurich’s Investment Management in 2003 and is currently the Head of Strategic Asset Allocation and Asset and Liability Management (ALM). In this role, he led the creation of the disciplined and structured ALM processes throughout the Zurich Group and the design of large and complex hedging transactions. Before joining Zurich, Mr. Zweig headed a business unit responsible for underwriting principle protection for alternative assets at Swiss Re and worked in various functions in risk management at UBS Investment Bank. Mr. Zweig graduated in theoretical physics and holds a Ph.D. in applied physics from the University of Berne in Switzerland.
Sabrina Hart (46, US citizen), currently Chief Underwriting Officer of Specialties business unit of Zurich North America Commercial in New York, has been appointed to the newly created position of Head of Risk Operations in Group Risk Management, effective October 1, 2008.
She will provide group-wide leadership for all operational risk management and control activities. In this capacity Ms. Hart will also support and leverage regional shared service platforms. She will report to Axel P. Lehmann, Group Chief Risk Officer and will be based in Zurich, Switzerland.
Hart joined Zurich in 1997 as a regional underwriting manager for medical professional liability. In 1999 she moved to New York to lead the national medical professional liability segment, and was appointed Chief Underwriting Officer of Specialties in 2006. Prior to joining Zurich, Ms. Hart worked for Marsh and AIG. She holds a degree in mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, USA.
Carol L. Siegfried (47, US citizen), currently Claims Chief Compliance Officer at Farmers in Los Angeles, has been appointed to the newly created position of Chief Risk Officer North America, effective October 1, 2008. She will be responsible for ensuring consistency and standardization of methods, processes and tools throughout the whole North America region.
Siegfried will also further enhance the regional shared service platform and strengthen risk governance across the entire North America region. She will report to Axel P. Lehmann, Group Chief Risk Officer, and Keitha Schofield, CEO and President of Zurich’s shared services organization in North America. She will be based in New York, United States.
She joined Farmers in 1994 as assistant vice president operations and subsequently held a number of roles in program management, sales, services and strategic planning. In 2006 she was appointed to her current role of Claims Chief Compliance Officer at Farmers. Prior to joining Zurich, Ms. Siegfried worked for AIG. She holds a degree in business administration and marketing from the Widener University in Pennsylvania, USA.
