UK Summit Held to Discuss Insurance Costs and Whiplash Claims
Last week insurance bosses met with the prime minister, David Cameron, and other government ministers in order to discuss ways in which the burden on UK motorists can be lifted. The meeting took place at Downing Street and was arranged as a direct result of the rising motoring costs, including the cost of motor insurance which has risen by around 30% in the last three years.
The summit discussed ways in which the number of personal injury claims made every year could be reduced halting inflating insurance premiums. It is thought that many whiplash claims are made due to an absence of medical diagnosis.
Insurers now want measures to be adopted similar to those in Germany where there is a speed threshold in place on any future whiplash claims. In addition, German injury claimants have to supply two separate medical reports.
