Small Fire Sends Smoke from Dubai’s Largest Mall
Officials in Dubai say a small blaze at one of the world’s largest malls brought fire crews to the scene but was quickly brought under control.
The emergency measures at the Dubai Mall on Tuesday were closely watched following upgraded planning around the Gulf after a mall fire in Qatar in May killed 19 people, including 13 children.
The Dubai Media Office says a minor fire broke out a restaurant at the vast mall, which is busy with shoppers and tourists during the holidays marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The statement says fire crews brought the blaze under control. A mall spokesman says the incident is being investigated.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
