QBE’s Interactive Skeleton Helps Adjusters Understand Common Injuries
An idea by a team member prompted the creation of a new interactive tool to help adjusters, brokers and underwriters understand common injuries, according to Rosie Hewitt, rehabilitation manager for QBE European Operations.
“We were looking at our Internet and…wondered whether there was anything that we could do in an innovative and fun way…that would give out our knowledge to both brokers and claims handlers. It’s all around about helping educate the brokers and claims staff to better understand injuries,” said Hewitt.
Mr. Bones, the interactive injury skeleton, highlights common injuries that occur in employer’s liability, motor and public liability claims.
The team’s clinicians and occupational therapists helped to highlight the top five most common injuries for each body part. In addition, successful rehab and treatment case studies were included. The case studies are comprised of the story, impact and include a testimonial by a claimant, broker or policyholder.
“All those injuries that you see are pretty much the common type of injuries that we work with. Then behind that are the case studies, actual cases of the team that have concluded and where we’ve had an impact to the actual claim and story,” Hewitt said. “Within the more recent case studies you’ll see the testimonials…from claim handlers, a broker or the actual policyholder, and sometimes from the actual injured person as well.”
Since Mr. Bones’ introduction, Hewitt said the company’s internet hit rates have gone up. The team plans to populate more injury locations and update case studies and claims outcomes.
The educational tool is free and can be accessed by anyone interested in learning more about claims-related injuries. Access Mr. Bones here: http://www.qbeeurope.com/rehabilitation/injuries/
