August 20, 2003

Business continuity plans, catastrophic risks and market place updates will be the focus of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) symposium for real estate risk management professionals, Oct. 7-9, at the Navy Pier in Chicago.

Highlights of the symposium include a CEO/COO panel with presentations by Michael O’Halleran, president and COO of Aon, Patrick Gallagher, president and CEO of Gallagher, Joseph McSweeny, chairman of Willis Risk Solutions North America and Peter Garvey, president and CEO of U.S. Operations at Marsh. Updates on best practices regarding homeland security, terrorism coverage, political risk, mold, tort reform, and captives are also on the agenda.

“RIMS sees an opportunity to be the catalyst in bringing together professionals from a specific industry to discuss critical issues,” said Janice Ochenkowski, RIMS VP – External Affairs and senior vice president at Jones Lang LaSalle. “We are reaching out beyond our own members, to real estate organizations, in order to create a broad forum for senior real estate professionals. With so many critical issues facing our industry, the time is right for real estate industry leaders from all asset classes to meet with leaders of the insurance industry to identify important issues and explore creative solutions. RIMS is uniquely suited to lead this important initiative.”

Registration for the event is on a first-come first-served basis and space is limited. For registration information go to: http://www.rims.org.
