Ohio Indicts Del. Home Contractor

Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro’s Office in conjunction with the Delaware County Prosecutor’s and Sheriff’s Offices has indicted Sean Beam doing business as Homecrafters, on 12 counts of theft, falsification and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activities (RICO).

Sean Beam contracted with three Delaware County consumers to build new homes and reportedly failed to complete building all three. Additionally, Beam reportedly failed to pay subcontractors, and received unauthorized draws from the consumer’s construction accounts, leaving the consumers with partially constructed homes.

The consumers were reportedly left with homes not finished and subcontractor liens placed on each home for services rendered and not paid for. All together, the consumers lost approximately $140,000 that they thought was being paid to subcontractors; they also had to hire other construction companies to complete the work at additional cost.

Beam reportedly submitted false affidavits to the consumers’ bank for payments from the consumers’ construction loan accounts. The false affidavits stated that he paid the subcontractors and suppliers for labor when he had not.

Beam could face up to 18 years in prison if convicted on all of the offenses.
