Tractors Recalled; Fires, Burn Injuries Possible
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Wisconsin-based Scag Power Equipment, announced voluntary recalls of Scag Tiger Cub riding lawn tractors. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
According to the recall, fuel can leak out of the carburetor, posing a risk of fire and burn injuries. To date, Scag is aware of 20 incidents, all of which involved fires and damage to tractors. Two consumers received minor burn injuries to their hands as a result of trying to put out fires involving these lawn tractors.
The recalled zero-turn-radius riding lawn tractors are “Cat’s Eye Gold” with black trim, and have a vinyl seat. The body of the tractor has “Scag Tiger Cub” written in red on the side and front of the tractor. The following model and serial numbers can be found under the seat, next to the hydraulic pump on the right hand side.
