BWC Seeks Nominations for Gov.’s Excellence Awards
The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) is currently accepting nominations statewide for the 10th Annual Governor’s Excellence in Workers’ Compensation Award (GEA).
“Many Ohio employers strive to create a safer work environment, but for a select few, safety is engrained in the minds of every single employee,” stated James Conrad, BWC Administrator and CEO. “Along with Governor Taft, I look forward to recognizing the businesses in our state that make workplace safety the top priority every day.”
The nomination deadline is May 20 and applications can be downloaded from the BWC Web site, ohiobwc.com. Mail the application to BWC’s Communications Division, P.O. Box 15277, Columbus, Ohio, 43215-0277.
Employers who are eligible for the GEA must show an outstanding commitment to workplace safety. Nominated businesses must have very few or no lost time claims, in addition to an effective cost containment program. Senior management must be actively involved in the company’s safety program and should encourage involvement among fellow employees.
BWC has recognized Ohio employers with the GEA since 1996. Awards are given to employers in three categories; state-fund, self-insuring, and public.
