Iowa Governor Declares 3 Counties Disaster Areas
Iowa Gov. Chet Culver has declared Bremer, Blackhawk and Louisa counties in the eastern part of the state as disaster areas.
The declaration came Monday, April 28, following heavy rains that have pushed rivers and streams over their banks. Culver’s action allows state resources to be used to move pumps and sandbags to areas affected by flooding.
The heavy rain started last week and brought damaging winds and heavy rain throughout eastern Iowa.
Culver toured flood damage in downtown Davenport. His appearance in Bettendorf has been canceled due to heavy flooding in the region.
