Nebraska, Minnesota Settle Over Iowa Construction Worker’s Death
Nebraska safety officials and a Minnesota construction company have agreed to settle citations issued in the death of an Iowa construction worker in Lincoln.
Timothy Comly, of Hornick, Iowa, was crushed to death as he cleaned out the bed of a dirt hauler on Dec. 9. Authorities say an apparent drop in hydraulic pressure caused the doors to close on him.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued two citations against Minnesota-based Myles Lorenz Inc. OSHA says inspections of the dirt hauler were not done often enough and training was not adequate.
OSHA spokesman Darwin Craig says the company agreed to a settlement during an informal conference last month. Financial terms were not disclosed.
