1 Dead in Accident at Missouri Power Plant Site
A worker has been killed in an accident at the Iatan 2 power plant under construction in northwest Missouri.
Kansas City Power & Light spokeswoman Katie McDonald told The Associated Press that an employee of a subcontractor died at 5:30 a.m. March 31 inside a boiler at the Platte County site. She provided no other details of the accident, the victim’s identity or the name of the subcontractor.
The death is the second at the utility’s facilities near Weston since May 23 when a subcontractor’s crane collapsed at the Iatan 1 plant about 30 miles northwest of Kansas City. One man died and three others were hurt.
The crane company involved in the May accident was fined $14,000 for two serious violations.
