Hudson Resigning as Ohio Insurance Director
Ohio Department of Insurance Director Mary Jo Hudson has announced her resignation effective Jan. 10, 2011. Her final work day will be Jan. 7.
“I am proud of the many changes that we have implemented over the past four years that effectively protected Ohio insurance consumers while encouraging the state’s growth as a vibrant and competitive insurance market,” Director Hudson said.
During the past four years, the department has initiated numerous education and enforcement programs to protect consumers, including seniors and members of the United States military.
The department has also been involved with initiatives to protect consumers from stranger originated life insurance, help Ohio insurance agents be more competitive in the national marketplace, assure that Ohio’s insurance market was safe and sound during troubled financial times, improve access to health insurance coverage for Ohioans, and also collaborated with the Ohio Department of Development and the Ohio Board of Regents to implement an economic development strategic plan directed to the Ohio insurance industry.
Director Hudson was appointed as the state’s 46th Insurance Director by Gov. Ted Strickland in January 2007.
While Gov.-Elect John Kasich previously has made several administrative appointments, he has yet to announce a successor to run the Ohio Insurance Department.
