Church Mutual Names Poirier Claims Vice President
Rich Poirier, a 20-year insurance industry veteran, has been named Vice President — Claims at Church Mutual Insurance Company.
Poirier has served in senior staff roles at Liberty Mutual and Wausau Insurance Companies.
A Connecticut native, Poirier earned a bachelor’s degree in 1983 from Marquette University and his Juris Doctorate from Marquette law school in 1986. Upon graduation, he served four years of active duty in Norfolk, Va. as a member of the Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corporation. He served as a trial lawyer and later managed the largest claims organization in the U.S. Navy.
Poirier served as a trial lawyer at Devries, Vlasak & Schallert, S.C. in Milwaukee for a year, before beginning his insurance career as a Claims Counsel for Acuity Insurance in Sheboygan from October 1990 to March 1993. He was then promoted to Regional Claims Manager at Acuity in Milwaukee from April 1993 to May 1994.
Poirier recently retired from the Naval Reserves in 2010 at the rank of Captain.
He is a member of the Wisconsin Bar and licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of Wisconsin, the Military Court of Appeals and the Federal, Eastern District of Wisconsin.
