Grand Jury Clears Officers in Wisconsin Man’s Death
A Floyd County grand jury has cleared three officers in the death of a Wisconsin man after a chase in northern Iowa.
The Iowa Department of Public Safety says Tuesday that a grand jury concluded no charges will be filed against Troopers Tyrel Williamson and Mark Ades and Floyd County Deputy Chris Myers.
John Pekrun of Wauwatosa, Wis., was shot June 22 after a chase and confrontation. Authorities started pursuing Pekrun after learning Wisconsin had a warrant for his arrest for failing to check in his probation agent. Officials say he lost control off the stolen car he was driving on a county road and came out armed with a hunting knife.
Williamson shot Pekrun after he refused to drop the knife and a stun gun failed to subdue him.
