Ohio Thieves Leave with Valuable Mausoleum Doors
The Morning Journal of Lorain reports that the large double doors on three of the crypts had been stolen on Friday after windows had been broken out and chains severed.
Lorain Street Superintendent Chuck Camera tells the newspaper that the heavy double doors are believed to be made of copper or brass and are extremely valuable.
Camera says the doors are large and not easily hidden. He says they’re probably in a neighborhood.
Cemetery workers say they are worried that the open tombs mean people will come in and desecrate the crypts.
Camera says he will rely on experts to close the mausoleums as soon as possible.
