Wisconsin Man Accused of Speeding at Nearly 100 MPH
An Oconomowoc, Wis., man who allegedly sped down a freeway at nearly 100 mph has been arrested on a tentative charge of fifth-offense drunken driving.
The Milwaukee County sheriff’s department says the 48-year-old was arrested Wednesday about 1:30 a.m. Deputies say the man was tracked going 97 mph in a 55-mph zone.
Authorities say the man showed signs of intoxication and performed poorly on sobriety tests. Deputies say a preliminary breath test registered 0.14 percent, which would be nearly twice the legal limit.
The man’s previous arrests occurred in Ohio and Michigan in 1992, 1997, 2001 and 2003.
A conviction of fifth-offense driving while intoxicated carries a maximum penalty of six years in prison.
