4 Workers Injured in Iowa Fire
Officials say four workers suffered minor injuries in a flash fire that led to the evacuation of about 350 people at an engine company in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Fire crews were called Wednesday morning to Goodrich Engine Components after a fire ball erupted. City Fire Marshall Mike Whitsell says employees were testing a flow injector for a gas turbine engine. The workers sent solvent through the engine that erupted.
The fire was extinguished by the building’s sprinkler system.
Officials say four workers were treated for minor injuries at the scene. Other workers were transported to the company’s other locations in West Des Moines.
