Cincinnati Casino Work Resumes Days After Collapse

New safety and other measures are in place for the resumption of work at the Cincinnati, Ohio, casino site where more than a dozen workers were hurt.

Crews were expected to be back on the job Wednesday, five days after a floor collapsed as concrete was being poured. The injuries from Friday’s accident were mostly minor.

The president of Messer Construction Co. says construction, safety and inspection procedures have been reviewed and new ones have been added to prevent another collapse at the Horseshoe Casino project.

Cincinnati’s chief building officer told city council members on Tuesday that the city sought assurances from structural engineers and federal regulators that it’s safe for workers to return.

The collapse occurred weeks after a similar Cleveland casino accident. Developers say there’s no connection.
