Iowa Town Settles With DuPont Over Tree Damage
Cedar Falls, Iowa, has settled with DuPont over golf course trees damaged by the company’s Imprelis herbicide.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier says the agreements approved Monday by the City Council will bring the city more than $85,000.
A total of nearly 25 trees were damaged at the Pheasant Ridge and Walter’s Ridge golf courses.
Officials say only one application of Imprelis had occurred on both properties before tree damage was first noticed in May 2011.
In the settlements, the city waives its right to file or participate in future lawsuits related to Imprelis.
In August last year, DuPont halted sales of Imprelis, which had been blamed in several lawsuits for damaging trees in many parts of the country.
