Southern Indiana Foundry Worker Dies Two Weeks After Injury
Family members say a General Motors worker injured at a southern Indiana factory two weeks ago has died after being taken off life support.
Authorities say Brian Gilbert died Monday at a Louisville, Ky., hospital where he was taken after he and another worker were hurt when a scissors lift collapsed Oct. 10 at GM’s foundry in Bedford.
United Auto Workers local president Scott Moore tells The Times-Mail that Gilbert was a dedicated machine repairman and asked that the community keep him in their thoughts and prayers.
An investigation continues into the collapse at the 450-worker foundry. Authorities say the other worker’s injuries were less serious.
