Defendants Say North Dakota Bar Fight Suit Should be Dismissed
The defendants in a lawsuit over a North Dakota bar fight say there’s no evidence to back up the complaint and it should be thrown out of federal court.
Ron Carpenter, of West Des Moines, Iowa, has filed a civil suit against Joshua Luger and the Last Chance Saloon for the October 2010 incident on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.
Carpenter says Luger assaulted him at the Solen Bar and caused severe injuries to his head and face.
The lawsuit accuses the bar of negligence for serving Luger liquor and failing to provide adequate security.
An answer to the complaint was filed Monday. The defendants say they’re not liable and accuse Carpenter of instigating the confrontation with a series of racial remarks.
