Nebraska Bicyclist Sues Homeowners Over Crash on Trail
The past and current owners of a south Lincoln, Neb., home are being sued by a man who was hurt when he crashed his bike on a trail near the house in 2011.
The Lincoln Journal Star reports that Christopher Hepburn of Lincoln filed the lawsuit because he believes his accident was caused by the home’s sump pump dumping water on the trail.
The current owners of the home, Daniel and Lori Howell, and the past owners, Dean and Mary Hoag, are defendants in the lawsuit. The Hoags now live in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Hepburn says in the lawsuit that he suffered a permanent injury to his face and head. The lawsuit seeks $100,000 for past medical bills, $2,000 for lost wages and an unnamed amount for future medical care.
