Cause of Missouri Business Fire Undetermined
State and federal investigators say they may never know what caused a massive fire at a southeast Missouri recycling plant earlier this month.
The Southeast Missourian reports damage at Missouri Plastics in Jackson is estimated at $7 million. The Oct. 3 fire destroyed the 100,000-square-foot building where the company recycled paper and plastic.
The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives joined the Missouri fire marshal’s office in the investigation. The bureau said Tuesday the two agencies have ruled the cause of the fire as undetermined.
The investigation remains open, however, and the federal agency says the findings may be changed if new information comes in.
