Indiana Seeks Damage Reports From Tornado Outbreak

November 27, 2013

State homeland security officials are urging Indiana residents to report storm damage from last week’s tornado outbreak as soon as they’re able.

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security needs damage reports from homeowners and local governments to determine whether or not the state will seek federal disaster aid.

At least 28 tornadoes touched down in Indiana on Nov. 17, making the outbreak the state’s third-largest on record.

Homeland Security spokesman John Erickson says the agency wants to make sure that people whose power was knocked out by the storms “have an opportunity to report their damage.”

A link for reporting storm damage is found on the agency’s website.
