Access America Extends Benefits to U.S. Travelers Hit by Blackout of 2003
Access America has extended its Travel Delay benefits to eligible customers affected by the Aug. 14 blackout, which affected the northeastern U.S. and Canada.
“The widespread effects of the recent blackout certainly wreaked havoc on the travel plans of many Americans. We’re committed to helping our customers recover losses incurred by this unanticipated event,” said Beth Godlin, senior vice president of marketing for Access America.
Customers who experienced delays of six or more hours as a result of the power outage and purchased coverage for Travel Delay benefits are qualified for reimbursement. Also, those who missed at least half of a scheduled trip as a result of the blackout may be eligible for benefits under Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption insurance. (All other terms and conditions of the protection will continue to apply.)
Those who are traveling away from home and need emergency assistance can call the 24-hour assistance center at (800) 654-1908 or (519) 741-5549 collect from outside North America.
