ISO Claims Database Offers Access to Motor Vehicle Reports
Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) has expanded its claims database — ISO ClaimSearch — to provide access to countrywide Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) for enhanced claims analyses and investigations capability.
ISO ClaimSearch will provide insurers access to countrywide MVRs through Decision NetSM, ISO’s secure Internet portal for third-party data — police reports, medical reports and public records.
The motor vehicle reports provide comprehensive and reliable information on an individual’s driving history, including:
· driver’s license information;
· driving history, including points deducted by state motor vehicle departments;
· driving restrictions, such as glasses and hearing aids;
· special endorsements, including tank and hazardous materials; and
· state-specific rules, regulations and requirements.
The new service is offered through an arrangement with ISO’s Insurance Information Exchange (iiX) unit — an industry provider of motor vehicle reports. Through its alliances with key data providers, iiX offers quick access to state driving-record databases and delivers property and auto underwriting information to more than 20,000 agents countrywide.
Insurers can submit orders for an individual’s driver’s license number through the Decision Net system, which will return a comprehensive report on that individual’s driving history and detailed license information. Insurers can also check Decision Net for up-to-the minute status updates while the system processes their orders.
ISO ClaimSearch is launching the new service in two phases. The first phase will enable insurers to order and receive “Quick Time” motor vehicle reports from 36 states and Washington, D.C. Access to MVRs from Alaska, California, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wyoming will be available in the second phase with turnaround in one to seven days, depending on state capabilities.
Insurers not participating in other Decision Net services may choose to sign up separately for access to MVRs.
