Federal Alliance for Safe Homes Offers Free Wildfire Safety Resources
While wildfires rage in southern California, the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes-FLASH, Inc. is reminding homeowners that free wildfire safety resources are available on-line and by phone.
Tips and tools on how to protect a home from wildfires are available at www.blueprintforsafety.org or toll-free at 877-221-SAFE (7233).
Blueprint for Safety(TM) is an educational program available from FLASH with the latest code-plus techniques for wildfire resistant construction. This information is custom-tailored for the average homeowner or the professional contractor.
“This is not just a California, or even a western states, problem,” said Leslie Chapman-Henderson, president of the Alliance. “Wildfires can affect every homeowner whether they live in California, New York or Florida. Our goal is to empower the homeowner, no matter where they live, with knowledge to help strengthen their home and safeguard their family.”
The Blueprint for Safety(TM) program also offers free printed materials for those without Internet access, as well as technical assistance for those with more in-depth questions. The toll-free phone number, 877-221-SAFE (7233), is available to homeowners nationwide. For more information on this program or other disaster safety tips, homeowners can also visit www.flash.org.
