Specialty Risk Services Obtains URAC Case Management Accreditation
Specialty Risk Services (SRS), a national property casualty third party administrator for workers’ compensation and general liability claims, has been awarded Case Management and Workers’ Compensation Utilization Management Accreditation from URAC, a Washington, DC-based health care accrediting organization that
establishes quality standards for the health care industry.
URAC’s Case Management Accreditation standards require companies establish a process to assess, plan and implement case management interventions.
“More than 55 percent of overall workers’ compensation costs are medical. Our compliance with the stringent URAC requirements further reinforce our commitment to the highest quality medical oversight for our client’s injured workers,” said Joe Boures, president of SRS. “We are very pleased to be recognized in the industry for providing outstanding services.”
Prior to receiving its own URAC accreditations, SRS was accredited through its parent company, The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc.
URAC’s Case Management Accreditation standards address the establishment of appropriate patient protections, such as policies for confidentiality of patient information, informed consent, dispute resolution and other issues.
The standards cover staff structure and qualifications, quality improvement, information management, oversight of delegated functions, ethics, complaints, and the case management process.
