GEICO Provides More Financial Support to Katrina Relief Groups
Along with managing more than 19,000 claims, GEICO associates in Macon, Georgia worked with the company to raise an additional $150,000 to aid relief efforts in two of the hardest hit areas affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Randy Thompson, GEICO’s New Orleans claims manager, recently presented the Baton Rouge Area Foundation with a check for $75,000, and Chad Usery, GEICO’s auto damage manager, presented the Mississippi Hurricane Recover Fund with a check for $75,000.
“We asked Randy and Chad to make the presentations,” said John Izzo, GEICO regional vice president for southeast operations of the country, “because they each played a major role in leading GEICO’s catastrophe teams and managing dozens of adjusters to take care of GEICO customers throughout Hurricane Katrina.”
The Baton Rouge Area Foundation has helped local philanthropists create a lasting legacy of community development through more than 300 charitable funds. The Mississippi Hurricane Recovery Fund distributes 100 percent of raised funds back into the stricken community.
