FEMA Manufactured Housing Call Center to Reduce Hours
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will reduce call center operations at the Travel Trailer and Manufactured Housing Helpline from seven days a week to six, as of Feb. 26, 2006.
The call center will remain fully staffed with live telephone operators from Monday to Saturday during the hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. During off hours, automated messages will inform callers of the new hours.
Following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, FEMA began operating the Travel Trailer and Manufactured Housing Helpline (888-294-2822) to address the significant number of calls concerning this specific issue.
The call center provides applicants with information about the status of their request or the delivery date for an approved travel trailer, mobile home or other manufactured housing. The call center also assists evacuees who no longer need or are ready to move out of their travel trailers or mobile homes.
The deadline to apply for FEMA disaster assistance is March 11, 2006. Call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-FEMA. Applicants may also register online at www.fema.gov.
