Hanken Named President of A.U.M.A. and Markel American Business Unit
Wis.-based Markel Corporation announced that Audrey Hanken will serve as the president of the American Underwriting Managers Agency, Inc. and the Markel American business unit.
“We are very happy to have Audrey lead the Markel American team in an even greater capacity than she has in the past,” said Mike Crowley, president and co-chief operating officer of Markel Corporation.
“With Audrey’s 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, including 17 years at Markel American, her strategic and tactical foresight, successful track record, team building capabilities, passion for the industry and personal drive, I am confident that the organization will continue to grow and prosper under Audrey’s leadership,” Crowley said.
Hanken started her insurance career at Northwestern National Casualty where she was responsible for pricing auto, homeowner, and umbrella products.
In 1995 she joined the Markel American team in the compliance department and quickly grew into leadership positions in marketing, underwriting and product management.
Prior to being named president, Hanken worked as the product management director of the company’s $90 million specialty personal lines insurance portfolio (consisting of motorcycle, all-terrain vehicle, snowmobile, boat, yacht, specialty personal lines property and event cancellation and liability products).
