GEICO to Host Career Fair on Facebook, June 11-12
Several GEICO recruiters will be online to chat with job seekers during the company’s Facebook career fair, June 11-12, between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT. Job seekers can post questions to the GEICO Careers wall on Facebook for recruiters to answer or they can ‘friend’ a recruiter and initiate a one-on-one chat.
“Our recruiters are great ambassadors for GEICO and we thought we’d try to utilize Facebook in a new way,” said Shannon Smedstad, human resources branding and social media lead. “This is a first for our social recruiting efforts and another way to potentially connect with job seekers all across the country.”
GEICO will provide a list of all positions and offer potential new hires a look inside the company through photos and videos.
“There is a feed of all GEICO positions, so job seekers can easily see what we are hiring for and apply,” said Smedstad. “This is a great opportunity for job seekers to ask as many questions as possible about the jobs at GEICO.”
Through its recruiting efforts on Facebook, LinkedIn and other sites, the auto insurer was ranked No. 11 among major companies for social media talent communication by Stockholm-based global research firm Potentialpark. The GEICO Careers page was ranked No. 3 overall in Potentialpark’s 2013 Top Employer Web Benchmark study.
