Fords Dominate List of Most VIN-Cloned Vehicles in Canada

September 18, 2025

A Ford, Ram and Jeep are the most cloned vehicles in Canada, a new report shows.

Fords dominated a list of the 10 most VIN-cloned vehicles in Canada, according to a report out this week from CARFAX Canada. Six vehicles from the Ford Motor Co. were on the list.

Vehicle identification number cloning is the act of stealing a VIN from a legally registered vehicle and then putting it under another similar looking stolen vehicle, which then later gets sold with the fake VIN.

The Ford F-150 was the most VIN-cloned vehicle, followed by the RAM 1500 series and the Jeep Wrangler. Both Ram and Jeep are owned by Stellantis, formed from the merger between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the PSA Group in 2021.

Fourth place went to the Ford Escape, coming in fifth was the Chevrolet Silverado from General Motors and sixth was the Ford F-350.

General Motors, also the parent of GMC, had another spot on the list with the GMC Sierra (seventh). The Ford Edge, Ford F-250 and Ford Explorer rounded out the rest of the list.
