Report: BMW, Ram And Tesla Had Some of The Nation’s Worst Drivers

Drivers of BMW, Ram and Tesla vehicles were ranked among the worst drivers in the country in a new report.

A LendingTree report on the best and worst drivers on by vehicle manufacturer ranks BMW for No. 1 in total incidents at 44.9 per 1,000 drivers. Ram and Tesla were No. 2 and No. 3 with 44.7 and 42.8 incidents. Incidents evaluated include accidents, DUIs, speeding and citations.

The report, conducted between Jan. 1 to Dec. 16, 2025, also ranks Volkswagen and Subaru in the top five for having the worst drivers.

Vehicles that made the list for the poorest driving records were also among those with the most accidents. Ram with 23.9 accidents and Tesla with 23.1 accidents led the list.

Drivers of Chrysler (25.5 incidents per 1,000 drivers), Cadillac (27.0) and Mercury (27.9) had the lowest accident rates.

BMW (4.8 DUIs per 1,000 drivers), Ram (2.2) and Buick (1.7) were the top three vehicles in which drivers were arrested for drunken driving. Lexus (1.0), Volvo (0.9) and Chrysler (0.9) drivers had the lowest DUI rates.

Infinitis had the top speeders with 3.3 incidents per 1,000 drivers, while Volkswagen, Mercury, Ram and Tesla drivers tied for No. 2 with 3.2 incidents. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 11,775 deaths related to speeding.

The study was conducted using QuoteWizard by LendingTree, an online lending marketplace. Researchers evaluated the 30 car makes with the highest numbers of inquiries.
