SIIS and TACT to Hold Fraud Prevention Seminar
Southwestern Insurance Information Service (SIIS) and the Texas Action Council on Theft (TACT) announced they will hold a continuing education/training seminar for insurance executives, claims personnel and other interested parties to be held at the Hotel Intercontinental in Addison, Texas, on May 22, 2003.
Sandra Ray, public affairs director for SIIS and Project Director for TACT, said the event is a two class training session that will be conducted by Roland Dumond, director of Training of the National Insurance Crime Bureau and Wayne Sneed, special agent with the National Insurance Crime Bureau. Each class is approved for one continuing education credit – free of charge.
The courses will begin with a luncheon at 11:30 followed by two classes. “Introduction to Insurance Fraud” and “Staged Accidents” The cost for lunch will be $23.50 per person.
The National Insurance Crime Bureau is a not-for-profit organization that receives support from approximately 1,000 property/casualty insurance companies. The NICB partners with insurers and law enforcement agencies to facilitate the identification, detection and prosecution of insurance criminals. The NICB aggressively seeks and enters into collaborative relationships with all entities or persons to detect, prevent and deter fraud and theft.
“These classes are intended to afford the opportunity to receive additional training on how to spot suspicious claims and prevent insurers from paying countless fraudulent claims which could be avoided,” Ray said.
