La. Agent Shut Down on Fraud Charge
A Gonzales, La. insurance agent was shut down this week in the latest investigation of alleged insurance fraud across the state, Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Robert Wooley has confirmed.
Department of Insurance Fraud Unit investigators served Melissa Guillot Robert at Ascension Insurance Agency with a Cease and Desist order and a summary suspension of her insurance licenses.
The order states that Robert reportedly misappropriated funds and/or issued bogus written statements of insurance coverage on at least four separate occasions in a two-year period. She is prohibited from engaging in any activity relating to the business of insurance.
Department of Insurance records show that Robert first received a property/casualty insurance license in 1986, a Fraternal license in 1988, a life and health license in 1989 and an Auto Club license in 1995.
The p/c and life & health licenses were current at the time of the suspensions.
