Texas Insurance Education Web Site Expands
InsureTexas.org, a consumer education Web site initially developed to help Texans during the state’s homeowner insurance crisis, has been expanded include information about auto insurance and personal financial planning.
The Web site, managed by the University of North Texas Financial Services Center, is sponsored by grants from The Allstate Foundation and the State Farm Companies Foundation.
“Everyone associated with InsureTexas.org is extremely proud of the expansion of the website,” said Dr. Brenda Wells, director of the UNT Financial Services Center. “With the latest changes, we feel we are now providing Texas consumers the ultimate tool in helping them with their insurance and financial planning needs.
“Our sole mission is to provide a public service to the Texas community,” Wells said. “It is wonderful that two competing insurers have jointly sponsored our endeavor to provide objective consumer education.”
Gary Briggs, Allstate Texas field vice president, said the Web site has been an important resource for consumers since its debut in 2002.
“The Allstate Foundation initially funded the Web site at a time when Texas was experiencing unprecedented mold and water losses,” Briggs said. “The environment in our state has improved substantially, but consumer education is a crucial part of improving the Texas insurance marketplace. We believe this site helps Texans get the information they need to make informed choices about homeowners and other types of insurance.”
