Caliber Earns Nomination for 2004 United Way Volunteer of the Year Award
Caliber Collision Centers, an Irvine, Calif.-based operator of collision repair facilities in California and Texas, recently earned a nomination for a United Way of San Antonio Volunteer of the Year Award after the company donated more than $5,000 worth of gifts and services to several local military bases and San Antonio area soldiers and their families.
Under the direction of Rick Angle, Caliber’s regional manager for San Antonio, all eight Caliber Collision Centers locations in San Antonio worked together to provide more than $5,000 worth of donations and services to families and soldiers at local military bases including: Lackland Air Force Base, Brooks Air Force Base, Fort Sam Houston Army Base, and Randolph Air Force Base. Caliber’s donations in both time and service earned them a nomination for a United Way of San Antonio Volunteer of the Year Award for volunteerism and outstanding community service.
“For the past two years, we’ve been proud to support our troops and the soldiers who are fighting for our freedom,” said Angle. “With local and community support from our associates and other businesses and volunteers, we’re able to make a difference in the lives of our soldiers and their families.”
This year, Caliber donated pre-paid calling cards to area soldiers who were being deployed to Iraq as well as to the soldiers and families of soldiers who were recuperating at Fort Sam Hospital.
Other donations included sponsorship of various officer award ceremonies, local Armed Forces Parades, the Fort Sam Houston Newcomers Extravaganza, the Combat Medic Run and the Fort Sam Fiesta Fireworks Event.
According to Mark Sanders, Caliber’s vice president of Operations – Texas, Caliber is proud to have been nominated for a United Way of San Antonio Volunteer of the Year Award. “We weren’t expecting to be nominated, but we’re thrilled to be acknowledged by the United Way, and we’re pleased to be a part of their efforts to help local communities. It takes dedication and determination to help those in need, and with the help of organizations like the United Way, we can all work together to better the lives of those around them.”
