Shipe Named Executive Director of TWCC
The Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission announced it has named Robert L. “Bob” Shipe as executive director of the Commission.
“The Commissioners and I are pleased with the agency’s direction and wanted to show our support of Bob’s leadership,” said Mike Hachtman, chairman of the Commission, in a message to Commission employees. “As an agency we face many challenges, but together we can make great improvements to enhance the quality of service to our customers.”
“I appreciate the confidence the Commissioners have shown in me,” Shipe said. “I am pleased with the initiatives we have started and I am committed to continuing these efforts to the benefit of the workers’ compensation system.”
Shipe had been serving as acting executive director of the Commission since July 2004. He first joined the Commission in 1991, working in the San Antonio field office, and later transferred to the central office to serve as chief of Records Processing. His other assignments at the Commission have included associate director of Field Operations and director of Workers’ Compensation Training Education and Development.
From 2000 through 2003, Shipe served as director of Government Relations. In January 2004, he was appointed director of Medical Review.
