American Mold Guard Increases Presence on Gulf Coast
Mold prevention company American Mold Guard Inc. announced the addition of two new service centers along the Gulf Coast to aid in post-Katrina restoration and new home construction efforts.
AMG opened the new service centers in St. Bernard Parish, La., and Biloxi, Miss., to meet demand for mold prevention expertise, which has risen rapidly since the company opened its first location in New Orleans shortly after Katrina.
“The Gulf Coast right now is the epicenter of home restoration and new construction, and homeowners and builders are making sure the process includes new safety measures like protection from mold contamination,” said Tom Blakeley, CEO of AMG. “In addition to eradicating microbial infestation in a cost-effective way, AMG supplies a unique warranty that insures the builder and homeowner from structural liability as well as personal injury liability caused by mold growth.”
AMG uses non-toxic antimicrobial surface coatings that shield building materials from mold growth that remain effective for multiple years.
“Out of the countless mold prevention companies working in the Gulf Coast right now, AMG is the only one that combines the best technology with comprehensive certification,” said Jim Licciardi, owner of Lash Homes, a Louisiana-based builder of custom housing since 1980. “I need that mold prevention guarantee when I go to the bank to complete a sale. About 100,000 homes in the New Orleans area were flooded, and most of those have to be stripped to the studs and scrubbed of microbial growth. We’re using AMG on all of our restoration jobs, and we’ve added their program to all of our new home construction as well.”
Prior to the hanging of interior drywall, AMG uses soda-blasting technology to remove any visible microbial growth from all wood surfaces before applying its antimicrobial material.
“A majority of the lumber used in residential construction comes with a degree of mold contamination,” said Blakeley. “This is due to moisture exposure at the lumberyard or during construction.”
