Seminars to Highlight Texas Work Comp Health Care Delivery Improvements
The Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) will present half-day educational seminars for health care providers in Lubbock on Aug. 15, and in Fort Worth on Aug. 18 titled “How House Bill (HB) 7 Improves Health Care Delivery in the Texas Workers’ Compensation System.”
The seminar in Lubbock will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 15 at the Lubbock Garden and Arts Center auditorium at 44th and University. The same seminar will be held twice in Fort Worth on Aug.18. The first session will be from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and the second session will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the City of Fort Worth Police and Fire Training Center at 100 Calvert Street.
Seminar topics will include certified workers’ compensation health care networks, disability management (treatment and return-to-work guidelines, treatment planning), preauthorization, pharmacy, peer review standards, payment for health care, electronic medical billing, medical dispute resolution, case management, treating doctor exam to define the compensable injury, required medical exams, and designated doctor exams.
These seminars are offered free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis; registration is not required. The auditorium in Lubbock can accommodate 150 participants while the Training Center in Fort Worth can accommodate 100 participants.
Additional educational seminars for health care providers will be scheduled in major Texas metropolitan areas in the coming months. Dates and locations have not yet been determined but will be announced by DWC in the near future.
