Deadline for Oklahoma Storm Damage Aid Approaching

July 12, 2010

Oklahoma residents who had property damaged by tornadoes or other severe storms May 10-13 have two weeks left to apply for state and federal disaster assistance.

The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management said July 8 that July 23 is the last day to begin the assistance process by contacting the Federal Emergency Management Agency. It also is the deadline to return any loan applications to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Officials say homeowners, renters and business owners who had property damage and live in nine disaster-designated counties should contact FEMA and register before time expires. Those counties are Carter, Cleveland, Creek, Garvin, McIntosh, Okfuskee, Oklahoma, Pottawatomie and Seminole.

Officials say more than $7 million in state and federal grants and low-interest disaster loans have been approved.
