Grass Fires Spring up Again in Arkansas
The Arkansas Forestry Commission says crews had to respond to 33 wildfires during the latest round of fires in the state.
Commission spokesman Jerry Lambert said late Sunday that fire crews suppressed 19 of the fires and were working to contain 14 others. He says single-engine air tankers made water drops on a fire in Howard County.
Officials haven’t yet determined how much acreage burned. There is no immediate report of injuries.
Burn bans are in effect in Fulton, Dallas, Miller and Ashley counties and burning is being strongly discouraged throughout the state.
